New Orleans has long been known for its over-the-top Mardi Gras celebrations—and not even a pandemic could stop residents of the Big Easy from partying it up during their favorite holiday. Given that all Mardi Gras parades in New Orleans were canceled this year as a result of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, inhabitants of the Louisiana city decided to decorate their homes in the style of Mardi Gras floats to keep the festivities alive—and we're obsessed with the insanely detailed decor of these abodes, which are part of what has been dubbed "Yardi Gras." Take a look at the homes for yourself below!

No two houses were decorated alike for Yardi Gras—and that makes it all the more fun to see the differences in creative license that each homeowner took when adorning their home for the annual holiday. One of our favorites is a Prince-themed house that is, of course, painted entirely purple (the singer's favorite color), which features two cardboard cutouts of Prince in the front windows, and a sizable version of what Prince deemed the "love symbol" (an amalgamation of the male and female gender symbols). Another standout dwelling is one that has a massive Mardi Gras-themed court jester that's almost as tall as the house it's standing in front of. Talk about Instagram-worthy!

Of course, we could go on and on about the various home decorations of Yardi Gras because there's truly something for everyone. Take the Dolly Parton cut-out that emulates a Jesus prayer candle, or a Ruth "Gator" Ginsburg house that's ornamented in the traditional colors of Mardi Gras (purple, green, and gold). Then there's a charming old house that features depictions of masked healthcare workers sporting the fleur-de-lis symbol that is often associated with New Orleans, complete with giant pearl-like strands draped from the home's many ionic columns.

We might be biased, but we at House Beautiful might just prefer Mardi Gras-themed home decorations over the traditional floats of years past. I mean, can you blame us?
